Date of the current Constitution: The "Constitution of
Independence" was adopted in November of 1975.
It was modified in October of 1976, September of 1980, March of 1991,
April and August of 1992 and November of 1996.
Main Political parties: The MPLA - Popular Movement for the
Release of Angola withholds the parliamentary majority
with 129 seats. The UNITA-
National Union for the Total Independence of Angola, occupies 70
places and diverse left minority are also represented in Parliament.
Capital: Luanda (3 millions inhabit.) (1998)
Other important cities: Huambo; Lobito; Benguela; Lubango;
Malange.
Religion: Great part of the population practises local
religions, but the majority takes the veil of
Christianism.
Language: The official language is the Portuguese, but diverse
National Languages are said (umbundo, kimbundo, kikongo, chokwe,
Fiote, Kwanniama ganguela).
